“RV” movie contains a brief Route 66 connection

According to film reviewer Brent Simon of Now Playing magazine, the new Robin Williams comedy "R.V." has a brief Mother Road reference:

In the end, too, after the secret of Bob’s meeting comes out, a moralistic ending gives way to a cast karaoke version of “(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66,” a la the Farrelly brothers’ effusive end-credit celebrations.

Considering that "R.V." is receiving reviews that range from mediocre to dreadful, this might be one of those movies to rent on the cheap from your local DVD store instead of shelling out $8 for a ticket.

  1. I just saw RV yesterday. I really liked it and would recommend it to any road warrior. It made me want to get out there on the road. I’m not an RVer but could imagine having the same problems Robin Williams did.

At one point, they went to a tourist trap out west and the scenery, especially in the mountains, was worth the price of admission. I stayed until the very end of the credits, but did not see filmsites.

This is a good leadup to the Cars movie.

The “Get Your Kicks” song at the end was one kickin’ version.

  2. Hmmm… 2012 ??
    A LONG DELAYED Comment !!

FAR WORSE than ANY Movie that I Have SEEN,
    WAS Your Reviewer’s Review !!

    The Movie,
did have a Fairly Lame (But Plausible) Plot,
BUT FAR better than MANY “Comedy” Devoted Movies.

“Slap Stick Comedy”, has always been Popular
    (although, have no idea why).
There is Also “Comedy of Adventures/Exploring”.
Both Types, may Seem to be over used,
BUT ALWAYS seem to be Popular.

As for Robin Williams: He does an EXCELLENT JOB of Using his Abilities to help the Story Progress,
While Getting the Best Performances of Others on the Show. Some of the Humor is Easily Predictable, BUT there is still is a Fair Amount that is NOT Easily Predictable.

Due to the Length of this Post, a List of MANY of the References to “Route 66”, WILL be POSTED SOON.

    AS for your Reviewer,
Would have to Rate the Review as 4 out of 10 !!
