A look at the Green Spot Motel

Syd, the proprieter of the super Roadside Peek site, sent me some photos of the Green Spot Motel along Route 66 in Victorville, Calif. This was spurred by an earlier post about an article from the Los Angeles Daily News.

Syd concurs that it appears that the formerly run-down motel is on an upswing.

I have to admit, the architecture is unique. Sounds like the Green Spot deserves further investigation from roadies.

  1. I’m curious as to the relationship between the current Green Spot and the Green Spot neon sign in the California Route 66 Museum in Victorville, as pictured in your first photo. The one in the museum is a cast-off from a remodel, perhaps? What’s the story?

  2. I’m not sure. I’m not familiar with the Green Spot itself, and we missed the Victorville museum being open the last time we were through town.

  3. I know all about the green spot motel. drugs, “prostitution”. I know this since i live locally. plus… that motel is in the worst part of victorville.

  4. i have recently stayed at the motel and the owner has really cleaned things up. I was extremely surprised to see how quiet and clean the place looks, the owner has started to renovate the place and plans to bring the Green Spot Motel back on its feet.

  5. iN THE OLDEN DAYS THE GREEN SPOT WAS THE SPOT, FOR D ST TRAFFICING,,,TURNER BUILDING AND THE BARREL HOUSE ALL HAVE A REP,…..nOW IN RECENT YEARS, MAIN ST OR SEVENTH OLD TOWN HAS BEEN AND BECOME OLD RT 66 THE HISTORIC VICTORVILLE, AND HAS REGAINED ITS SMALL TOWN, LOOK.

  6. I drove by it today and it has gone into total disrepair -very sad to see-. The sign at the museum is the original Green Spot sign.
