In a story from the Edmond (Okla.) Sun about artist Hall “Dr. D” Duncan being given Special Recognition by Gov. Brad Henry at the 33rd Annual Governor’s Arts Awards later this month is this little tidbit:

He currently is writing a book that will allow children to enjoy learning about the history of Route 66. “Emma Doesn’t Want to Race Today,” is about a racing pigeon who longs to see the sights of Route 66, including the Round Barn and POPS, a recently opened convenience store and restaurant, both in Arcadia.

Duncan has another book, “The Wild Adventures of Oklahoma Joe’s 10-Gallon Hat,” that he wrote and illustrated. Duncan’s Web site is here.
