I just got back home from traveling during the Memorial Day weekend, with very little Internet access the entire time.
So I’ll be playing catch-up on the news along Route 66 in the next day or so. Nothing really big or urgent had occurred, but I think you’ll find some of the items I’ll be reporting as intriguing.
Presentation dates set for California Route 66 study June 1, 2010

The California Preservation Foundation, the Route 66 Corridor Preservation Program and hired consultants Mead & Hunt have set a series of dates this month along Route 66 for presentations on a forthcoming comprehensive historical study of Route 66 in California.
According to a news release from the foundation:
“We are encouraging all Route 66 enthusiasts, historians and communities leaders along the route to participate in the project” says Jennifer Gates, Field Services Director for CPF. “These presentations are intended to kick-off the project and to inform those interested about the process and how they can participate.” [...]
At the end of the process CPF and NPS will submit a Multiple Property Documentation Form to the National Register as part of an ongoing effort to document the history and significance of Route 66 to National Register standards. The Multiple Property Documentation Form provides the historical and architectural context and registration requirements to nominate individual Route 66 properties in California to the National Register, the United State’s official list of historic places worthy of preservation.
