Pops store coming to Tulsa airport

If you’re traveling by air to Tulsa or have a changeover at Tulsa International Airport, you’ll soon have access to a taste of Route 66 while you’re there.

Pops, a convenience store and restaurant based on Route 66 in Arcadia, Okla., will open at the airport its third location. It will be inside the former Novel Idea bookstore on Concourse A, reported the Tulsa World.

Pops operates a second location at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City.

According to the World:

The Pops at Tulsa International will be much smaller, with a more limited selection than the home base in Arcadia, but will still feature dozens of unique soda flavors from all over the planet. […]

The 1,072-square-foot store will feature soda, as well as candy, snacks and other goods for fliers.

Like the Arcadia store, the Tulsa airport Pops will have a front wall of color soda bottles.

The Pops store will open sometime early next year. Don’t go there as a visitor to the airport, however. It’s going to be behind security lines so only airport personnel and passengers can go to it.

Pops in Arcadia, the brainchild of former Chesapeake Energy CEO Aubrey McClendon, quickly became a Route 66 landmark after opening in 2007. It is famous for offering up to 600 types of soda pop, plus its 66-foot-tall soda bottle in the front of the property that’s festooned with multicolored LED lights.
