Carl’s last ride on Route 66 December 20, 2013

Eighty-four-year-old Carl Johns, a nursing home resident, was asked if there was anything he wanted to do before he died.

He said he wanted to ride in a 1956 Chevrolet. Apparently he always admired the car, but never was able to buy one because of family responsibilities.

On Wednesday, Johns received his wish with a cruise in a ’56 Bel Air down Route 66. The Victorville Daily Press filed this story, but the video the newspaper produced tells the story better than anything.

No words of mine can add anything to this remarkable story, but I wanted to thank you, Ron, for posting it.

What a wonderful story. Kudos to the organizers and all who helped. I can just imagine the joy Mr. Johns felt as he took the ride of his dreams.
