A red 1964 Chevrolet Corvette — or half of one, anyway — recently arrived in Joplin, Mo., to be installed as part of a photo-op at the Route 66 Mural Park in downtown.
According to a news release from the Joplin Convention and Visitors Bureau:
Final dedication of the finished park will be held in early February. Modifications to special tile lighting is holding up the completion date. All other work is complete.

Joplin-based Chrome Shop Mafia with 4-State Trucks converted the car shell into a Route 66 icon.
The tile mural was built last summer by Images in Tile USA on the Pearl Brothers Hardware building near Seventh and Main streets, where two alignments of Route 66 intersect. Images in Tile also made another Route 66-themed mural in nearby Galena, Kan.
