Goodwill store in Tulsa erects Route 66-themed sign

The headquarters of Goodwill Industries of Tulsa has operated on Route 66 in southwest Tulsa for years.

Yet it’s invigorating to see a retro and Route 66-inspired sign go up at its new retail store in that area. Afton Station co-owner Laurel Kane posted a photo of the new sign on her blog.

The front of the store comes with an Art Deco feel as well — a nod to Tulsa’s storied Art Deco heritage.

The new store is two blocks south on Southwest Boulevard (aka Route 66) of the old location. According to the spring newsletter of Goodwill, the new store was supposed to open in May. I’ve seen no indication in local media or Goodwill’s website whether the new store has opened, however.

  1. Weather delays have pushed the Ribbon Cutting on the new Southwest Boulevard store to early July.
