Country-music singer Jess McEntire, who’s spent the last few years using his music to promote Route 66, apparently has produced a new video for one of his songs, “The Mother Road.”
McEntire will be at the International Route 66 Festival in Kingman, Arizona, on Aug. 14-16. Later this year, he’s also selling raffle tickets for a giveaway for a custom Route 66 guitar autographed by Loretta Lynn.
Sales of his Route 66-themed double album, “Man on a Mission,” go to Project Route 66, which aims to promote the road by erecting billboards.
Thank you for this information. I bought one and it will be shipping to France. I’m very happy because I love his songs and I didn’t know him before. I prefer sometime to buy a CD than download it because I have an old car without any other plug.
Jess left a supply of his CDs at Laurel Kane’s Afton Station. Each CD has a mail-in entry form for the guitar giveaway as well as a souvenir guitar pick. FYI: He told us Reba McEntire was his cousin.
I bought a copy of “Man on a mission” at the Jackrabbit Trading Post west of Joseph City, AZ. The Jackrabbit is one of my all-time favorite places on 66, and I had been wanting to get the CDs for a couple of weeks- great traveling music that re-ignited my childhood memories of Route 66. I met McEntire at the World Monument Fund Route 66 meeting in Anaheim last November. I was completely impressed with his enthusiasm for Route 66.
Well done!
Reba and Jess are not cousins
