I found out about this film recently from a comment by Susan in Tulsa-area blog, Batesline.com, on a subject that had little to do with Route 66.
Susan was right. The sketchy information I gleaned from a variety of Web sites is this: Stand-up comedian and cartoon artist Harland Williams is in the middle of production for an animated road-trip movie titled “Route 66” that’s slated for release in 2007. It was announced last month, and he’s writing and directing it for DreamWorks.
I don’t know much about Williams, but he boasts about 30 television or film productions to his credit. He’s drawn the popular Lickety Split children’s books. If nothing else, he’s busy, as evidenced by all the projects listed on his Web site.
I wonder where the idea came from to produce a Route 66 animated film?
