Oklahoma City’s Gold Dome finds new life

A few years ago, the geodesic "Gold Dome" on Route 66 in Oklahoma City once was slated for the wrecking ball.

Now it's being used as a multicultural center and office complex, reports Preservation Online, a publication by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Gold Dome, built in 1958 as a Citizen's Bank, is at Northwest 23rd Street and North Classen Boulevard. Optometrist Dr. Irene Lam was instrumental in saving the structure, and she has a practice inside the dome.

Here's the Web site to the Gold Dome Multicultural Society.

  1. I’ve been thinking it’s just about time for an upgrade to trifocals. I believe I’ll schedule an appointment with Dr. Lam when we get back from vacation. It won’t be the first time I drove two hours to have my eyes checked….
