About 80 drivers of antique tractors showed up Saturday at Route 66 Antique Tractors Roadshow, which started in Normal, Ill., and stopped at Pontiac for the day. The event continues Sunday at Dwight and Odell, reports the Bloomington Pantagraph.
Organizers said participation was down slightly from last year’s event, probably because of the higher cost of fuel. However, a sponsor topped off their tanks at a park in Pontiac at the end of the day.
Also, participants toured the O.E.M. plant in Chenoa, which makes parts for 1939-58 Farmall tractors. And nursing home residents along the way got a kick out of seeing the old contraptions.
