Chucky getting his kicks?

My search engine caught something I didn’t expect.

Chucky, the doll who’s caused murder and mayhem in a bunch of horror movies, apparently has some sort of Route 66 connection in one of his films.

In this news release touting the release of “Chucky: The Killer DVD Collection,” it provides this summary to one of the featured films, “Bride of Chucky.”

It’s a match made in hell when Chucky reincarnates his long lost love Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) as a pint-sized plaything with an insatiable thirst for blood. The demonic duo commemorates their reunion with a murderous cross-country road trip down Route 66, leaving a trail of murder and mayhem in their wake.

I’m intrigued. Has anyone seen “Bride of Chucky”? Is it truly set on Route 66, or is it just hype? Would the extra commentary and the Route 66 link make the movie a good candidate for my Netflix queue?

  1. I’ve seen that movie a few years back and, as I recall, it was totally ridiculous! I liked the original “Chucky” movie; the second one was tolerable. All the subsequent ones were ludicrous!

I don’t seem to recall the Route 66 connection being made, but I’m not going to say that it couldn’t have been. However, I sure wouldn’t waste my time with THAT one! Supposedly a horror film, I sat and laughed my way through most of the movie! A young girl I was babysitting at the time isn’t fond of horror movies but, for some reason, wanted to see that one; she spent most of the time laughing too! The sad part is that we weren’t laughing because it was a comedy; we were laughing because it was ridiculously comical!!!!

  2. I have seen bits and pieces of that movie as it has been on some of the Encore movie channels in just the last few weeks. Don’t recall any mention of Route 66, though I must admit my attention span for the movie was pretty low. I’d much rather see Jennifer Tilly playing poker on ESPN.
