The St. Louis Post-Dispatch has an excellent article about Bob Mullen and his humongous collection of filling-station memorabilia, dubbed Gasoline Alley, near Cuba, Mo.
Although he is not sure when his interest in gasoline advertising began, Mullen says it may be related to his childhood spent on a nearby farm, which had a view of historic Route 66.
“I can still remember watching the old Campbell 66 Express trucks with their ‘Humpin’ to Please’ camels and ‘Route 66’ logos on their sides going up and down the highway,” he says.
The collection can be seen prominently along the eastbound lanes Interstate 44, east of Cuba. Much of his outdoors collection is even illuminated at night.

Are we speaking of the Gasoline alley Museum out side of santa Fe in New Mexcio?? If so This is a great Place I found it by Chance on trip back to SANTA FE From Taos.
I love the Classic Gas Pumps. The evening My Wife and happened upon the alley , the sun was setting golden bright and the skies were silent. There was a hippy like chap who pleaseantly greeted us.. we talked about Jersey I think he was and engineer at one time, he then vanished like a Ghost. After touring the exterior pop culture of petrolueum advertising we cautiously strolled into the musem to be deligfhted further . With no one around, left 5 bucks in the can by the juke box and we were on our way , a few pics and pleasant memories of our visit.
I know Bob personally! In fact, he’s my uncle. The farm and his collection are–well, awesome, cool, however you want to say it.
Though Bob does collect a lot of the gas-station articles, he also has many car models (the kind you can find in kits and build) along with quite a few mannequins. If you ever have a chance to visit, you’ll be amazed!
