Joplin museum chief honored

Brad Belk, executive director of the Joplin Museum Complex in Joplin, Mo., was one of six people recognized for the 2006 Governor’s Humanities Award, reports the Joplin Globe.

Here’s how he got it:

The honor recognizes Belk’s work in historic preservation, said Allen Shirley, of Joplin, who made the nomination. Shirley said the award honors Belk’s efforts in preserving local history through the museum complex, and in projects such as his books on Joplin history and his work on a recent Ozarks Public Television documentary on Route 66 through Missouri.
