Gord Goble of IGN.com checked out the new video game, “Harley-Davidson: Race to the Rally,” which reportedly contains a segment of Route 66 as a part of its cross-country motorcycle journey.
Goble didn’t like it much; he described it as “disappointing” and graded it a mediocre 5 of a possible 10.
And apparently the game’s Route 66 stretch through Oklahoma was skimpy or didn’t make much of an impression. He devoted just one sentence to it in his thorough review.
So it probably isn’t a high-priority purchase for roadies.
I’m still waiting for the day when someone develops a virtual Chicago-to-L.A. Route 66 video game, in which you not only drive the road and see its sights, but interact with its characters. It’d also be great to travel in certain decades, almost like a time machine. It’d be enormously complex, but it’d also be enormously cool — and entice gamers to travel the real thing.
Oh I love your idea of the different decades, now that is creative game design. You should look up some freelance coders and give it a go 🙂
It might be more fun with a new controller, kinda like a set of handle bars you lean back in the lazy boy with so you can still get a good twist on that throttle! Imagine all of the aftermarket sales for addons to ‘mod’ your machine…xbox monkey bars… 🙂
