Here’s a story from the Tulsa World that involves the iconic Blue Whale of Catoosa, Okla., on Route 66.
A woman lost her class ring at the site in the early 1970s, when the Blue Whale was still a swimming hole. She searched for it at least one time, but assumed it was gone for good.
The Blue Whale’s co-owner, Zelta Davis, found the ring and tried to track down its owner. Zelta died. The owner’s daughter tried to find the ring’s owner, too. She also died. Claudia Porter, the co-owner’s aunt, took up the quest.
Porter recently found the ring’s owner: Janet Price, a 1968 graduate of McLain High School.
Current Blue Whale caretaker Blaine Davis said many rings have been found over the years and that the owners never threw anything away. Davis right now is trying to find the owner of another lost class ring. If you attended Warsaw High School and misplaced a men’s ring with the engraved initials of “RW,” you’d better head over to the Blue Whale and touch base.
… initials of “RW,”…
Ron, where did YOU go to school???? 😉
I know, I doubt it was Warsaw, and you are a bit young to have gone to the Blue Whale when swimming was allowed.
