In the past few days, tickets went on sale online for the annual Will Rogers Awards banquet on June 22, which is the highlight of Route 66 Festival ’07.
This year’s fest will be Clinton, Okla., with the banquet at the Frisco Center. A reception will be at 6 p.m., with the dinner at 7. Tickets are $40 apiece.
For those who are unfamiliar, the Will Rogers Awards honors the people of Route 66 for their contributions to that historic road. I’ve been to six awards nights, and there always are a few surprises and poignant moments.
