Members of the Joliet Region Model A Restorers’ Club participated in the Illinois Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor weekend from Joliet to Pontiac.
The one who shot this video was driving a 1931 Ford Model A pickup. Great-looking vehicle, but, as you’ll see in the footage, the payload isn’t much.
I enjoyed it….it’s nice to see all the different videos from people and all of them are different as the people are taking the pictures….it was a nice trip down Route 66 and alot of the footage was very recognizable. Loved the cars!!!
Hi there, I’m the one who shot this video. I’m the President of the Joliet Region Model A Restorer’s Club and I also led this tour from Joliet to Pontiac IL.
It was part of the Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor Weekend that was set up for May 5th and 6th. We left the Joliet Historical Society’s Route 66 Welcome Center at 830 and visited the following places.
Route 66 racetrack just outside of Joliet
Abraham Lincoln Nat’l Cemetary
Gemini Giant and Launching Pad Cafe In Wilimington
Eagle Hotel in Wilimington
The Street Car Diner and Riveria Bar in Gardner
Restored Gas Station in Dwight
SmatterJack’s in Dwight for Lunch
That house in Odell with the old gas pumps and petrolina outside
Restored Gas Station in Odell
Route 66 Museum in Pontiac
We had 8 Model A’s (Fords produced from 1928-1931), a 1914 Model T came along for the first 5 miles or so and an Indian Motorcycle rode the whole way with us.
We had an absolute blast and I’m glad to see that this video is being shared here! Anyone interested in Model A’s should check out http://www.modelaford.org or the Joliet Region’s website is http://www.jolietmarc.org
Finally, if interested the restoration of my pickup is found at this website. http://www.geocities.com/tjstruck2000/index.html
Thanks everyone!

I was able to be at MARC’s convention in Joliet last month. Great group of people and enthusiasts. I was even able to get a ride in a Model A for the first time. Certainly enjoyed the video.
