  1. Stop in Chandler, OK and tour the brand new Rt.66 Interpretive Center in the historic Chandler WPA-built armory! Gives brand new meaning to the term “rest stop.”
Wonderful grand opening yesterday, May 19. Open Tues. – Sat.; Armory built in 1937, a banner year when last of Rt.66 paving in Oklahoma went down nearby AND, the first cans of SPAM rolled off production lines. So we served Spamwiches at la grande opening.
It’s Oklahoma’s Centennial Year. Mementos of all are in the new Gift Shop, and the homey Museum of Pioneer History is few blocks away downtown… a few blocks more lead to Papa’s Barbeque, brand new and good!
And don’t miss seeing the just restored century-old Coca Cola ghost sign going down or uphill on main street at 13th; high up on South side of old hotel building. It’s getting a state preservation award in few weeks.
