The Yancey Richardson Gallery in New York City has a photographic and film exhibit, titled “Easy Rider: Road Trips Through America,” through Sept. 8. A number of photos are from Route 66.
The work of several dozen artists will be on display, including Dorothea Lange, William Eggleston and Allen Ginsberg.
As for the Route 66 photos:
Ernst Haas’ photograph of Central Avenue (aka Route 66) in Albuquerque shortly after a thunderstorm in 1969 wound up in Life magazine. It is one of the best-known vintage Route 66 shots, and you can still buy it in poster form today.
Ed Ruscha photographed gas stations along Route 66 in 1962. Veteran roadies will recognize the U-Drop Inn in Shamrock, Texas, back when it was a Conoco station.
Here’s Ruscha’s photo of an Enco station in Conway, Texas.
Here’s a Mobil station in Shamrock, Texas.
This is a Fina station in Groom, Texas.
And travelers can look longingly at this night shot of a Hudson in Amarillo and its 21-cents-a-gallon prices.

These are great images. This is what makes route 66 very appealing to people in other parts of the world.
I am wondering if anyone knows where to buy a poster/print of the Ernst Haas photograph of Central Ave from 1969 as shown on this page?
