A story in the New Mexico Business Weekly has this story about Gary Goodman and his La Posada of Albuquerque:
For the past two years, Goodman has been renovating the hotel and returning it to its former elegance. He plans to open the 1939 hotel as a boutique hotel with 107 guest rooms and indoor and outdoor dining in about a year. He sees it as an enhancement of a growing Downtown Albuquerque. […]
Goodman went on to thank Mayor Martin Chavez and his administration for helping secure an industrial bond from the city to assist in the property’s redevelopment, and pledged to make La Posada “the most energy-efficient hotel in the nation.”
Good to hear that some progress is finally being made.

Goodman used taxpayer money, which was supposed to go for industry to build an overpriced hotel and this is good? How?
If his idea so good, and the demand there, why does he need public money? He should have no problem getting private financing.
And if it doesn’t “reopen next year” who gets stuck? The taxpayer AGAIN.
You Ron and Goodman are greedy, selfish bastards who don’t give a damn about anybody else.
Perhaps I am greedy (although my bank account says otherwise).
Perhaps I am selfish (although my unpaid time to help Route 66 would indicate otherwise).
But based on my birth records, I can say with utmost certainty that I’m definitely not a bastard. 😉
Smacks: While you may have a valid argument concerning the appropriateness of using taxpayer money to subsidize private development, it has been completely obscured by your decision to lapse into baseless, reactionary name-calling, which only serves to obliterate your credibility with anyone reading your comment.
You still have a chance to save face here, but it’s going to require a little gumption. If you intend to have your arguments taken seriously, you need to either A.) offer some evidence to back up your baseless claims about Ron’s alleged parsimony and selfishness or B.) admit that you got carried away by your own hysteria concerning this issue and chose to make sweeping accusations against the messenger, without regard to their veracity or appropriateness.
