Vintage Roadside, an apparel company that features retro artwork from defunct roadside businesses of the 1930s to ’60s, is providing free one-year memberships to the National Trust for Historic Preservation for every T-shirt it sells.
Most of Vintage Roadside’s shirts run $20 apiece. The National Trust membership’s value is $20.
As the news release says:
The National Trust for Historic Preservation is a private, non-profit membership organization dedicated to saving historic places and revitalizing America’s communities. A great example of the importance of the National Trust’s preservation efforts is its recent focus on historic Route 66 mom and pop motels. Still found along the Mother Road, these historic motels are in jeopardy from both the wear and tear of passing years and the wrecking ball of new development. With the help of its members, the National Trust for Historic Preservation is working to preserve these iconic roadside stops for future generations.
Vintage Roadside customers who take advantage of the National Trust for Historic Preservation special offer will receive membership benefits including a free subscription to Preservation, the organization’s award-winning magazine, access to the National Trust’s Member Center, a members-only website featuring special content, and great discounts at historic places across America, including National Trust historic sites, select Historic Hotels of America, and museum shops.
If you’re looking for Route 66-related apparel from the company, check out the T-shirt of the B&B Rancho in Rialto, Calif.
And the good folks at Vintage Roadside have a blog. They’ve been collecting the fiberglass figures from the A&W Burger Family. The only one missing is Papa.
Those are great Ron. Thanks for that story. I’ll have to add one of those shirts to my Christmas list.
