Michael Zadoorian has written a novel about a Route 66 trip, “The Leisure Seekers,” that’s not going to be published for almost another year, but it’s already been optioned for film rights, says the Hollywood Reporter.
The project, which has echoes of “The Bucket List” and “About Schmidt,” revolves around an elderly couple who, to the chagrin of their children, head off on an impromptu RV trip down Route 66, determined to enter their twilight years on their own terms.
The book, which simultaneously was acquired by HarperCollins division William Morrow, is scheduled to be released in spring 2009.
“Seekers,” Sharp Independent CEO Jeff Sharp noted, “reminds us of a time when the journey was the destination and all of our dreams fit into a station wagon packed full of kids.” William Morrow editor Jennifer Pooley, who acquired the book, called it an “offbeat love story.”
Zadoorian published a book in 2001, “Second Hand,” about a junk-store owner, that earned quite a bit of praise.

Any movie that Jeff Sharp, CEO of Sharp Independent, produces is the greatest! I am a devoted fan following his incredible journey and dreams.
Now this sounds like my kind of movie…..it is all about the journey and not the destination! Can’t wait to have it come out in movie form.
