The Pontiac Daily Leader published a story Friday about the Illinois Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor Festival this weekend.
The festival is on Sunday, too. So if you’re in the area, you still have time to check it out. In fact, the weather looks superb for that day.
UPDATE 5/14/08: Here’s a story filed from Towanda by the Bloomington Pantagraph.
Other than perhaps Pontiac, Towanda was the best we saw this afternoon. Lots of classic cars along the four-lane (and a bunch of people checking them out) and a good amount of vendors/epople in the town park. Lexington had nothing of note on Sunday, Chenoa was deader (activities and visitors) than we expected, and Pontiac was fine but that was expected of that town (the Hall of Fame and Museum was BUSY!)
As we got north it was later on Sunday so it’s harder to gauge participation. Gardner was still hopping (though the lemon shake-ups were disappointing). A little was still happening across the street from the Polk-A-Dot and tons of motorcycles were displayed on a closed-off street in Wilmington, but I think a lot was packed up at that point.
LOTS of classic rides cruising the highway today, even between Springfield and Bloomington-Normal.
