Another honor for Joliet

The honors keep coming for the city of Joliet, Ill., and its Route 66 promotion efforts.

According to the Joliet Herald-News, the Publicity Club of Chicago gave a Gold Trumpet award.

The award recognizes the Joliet Visitors Bureau‘s 2007 Joliet Kicks-Off on Route 66 Event and celebration for creative planning and implementation of a special event.

The awards honor distinguished individual achievement of public relations and other communications professionals. These awards are presented for excellence in planning, creativity and execution.

The Publicity Club of Chicago is the nation’s largest independent public relations membership organization.

The award-winning event celebrated the grand opening of the Route 66 Experience at the Joliet Area Historical Museum on Cass and Ottawa streets in downtown Joliet. The event also kicked off the Route 66 travel season for the city with activities throughout the day including the Blooze Brothers Band, VIP Grease Lip Sync and outdoor movie.

Here’s the city’s Joliet Kicks on Route 66 site. The Joliet Historical Museum also was honored a few months ago for its Route 66 Experience exhibit.
