Route 66 Advertiser goes online

The Route 66 Advertiser newspaper, based in Joplin, Mo., announced today it is taking its content online to Route66Advertiser.net.

Publisher Jim Michalec wrote in an e-mail:

As you are aware, the soaring costs of fuel (and all possible avenues of shipping) have gone up dramatically, and the consequences of present economic factors has put a heavy burden on all of us. So, we decided to save some trees, and at the same time, offer our advertisers affordable exposure to the world at large, and also to those that their trips on the Mother Road months in advance. We now provide direct links to our advertiser’s websites (and even their email addresses), directly from their ads on the pages of the Route 66 Advertiser On-line publication.

Best of all, the Advertiser is On-line all year long, and continuously updated with new articles, ads, event postings, etc.! Papers tend to be set aside, thrown-out, no longer timely or simply “sold-out”…and your ad could no longer be seen, but this situation has been solved because your ad is always available on-line.

Reaching more readers worldwide, we can now provide them a “Hot Link” directly to your Web Site and E-mails as mentioned before. This will save them the expense of long distance phone calls, and catch them on impulse to investigate what you have to offer the moment they see your ad! In addition, ads that were printed in black & white are now in bright, vivid color at no additional cost to you, and changes can be made in minutes….no longer will you need to wait for the next printed edition to see your updates. (Note: if your On-line ad is displayed in black & white, please send us updated color photos and logos, plus your web and e-mail addresses, so we can include them in your ad right away.)

The Advertiser is basically a shopping newspaper, but it’s one of the most informative shoppers I’ve  read, including data about several Route 66 properties for sale or lease. You can read the current edition here.
