Historic Road conference has goodies for Route 66ers

The Preserving the Historic Road Conference 2008, slated for Sept. 11-14 in Albuquerque, aims to preserve all of America’s storied highways. But it boasts several events that should be of great interest to Route 66 advocates.

  • A keynote address by Route 66 author and actor Michael Wallis.
  • A Friday Movie Night, which features vintage footage of New Mexico and other highways in the Southwest.
  • Tours along Route 66 and other area historic highways.
  • Closing address by Chester Liebs, author of “Main Street to Miracle Mile.”

There also are plenty of educational sessions for preservationists. Details are here.

Early bird discounts close Aug. 11, so you’d better get moving. You can register online here or by calling 800-627-8726, Ext. 1223.
