The Los Angeles Times today has a story about a $1 billion renovation of Disney’s California Adventure at the Disneyland resort.
The story also has a few more details about Cars Land, the theme park based on Pixar’s hit 2006 movie, “Cars.”
The most anticipated addition to the park is a 12-acre Cars Land that will bring to life the town of Radiator Springs, the setting for the 2006 Disney/Pixar animated film “Cars,” with three new attractions including the thrill ride Radiator Springs Racers.
Weis said “Cars” director John Lasseter encouraged the Imagineers to take the same eight-day trip along Route 66 that the film’s animators took, from Amarillo, Texas, to California, to capture the 1950s car culture.
Also significant is the Times’ graphic of the new theme park, which reveals a Mater’s junkyard Jamboree spinning ride, Luigi’s Roamin’ Tires levitating hovercraft ride and the Radiator Springs indoor/outdoor car-racing ride. The layout also reveals structures that look tantalizingly like the Cozy Cone Motel, although it’s not labeled.
The Golden Vine Winery will host more artists’ renderings of the theme park on Monday.
