The Hillsboro (Ill.) Journal-News ran into Phil Rosenstein, the man who’s running across the country for the Mario Lemieux Foundation, as he trodded into central Illinois last week.
Rosenstein made it into Chicago, the eastern end of Route 66, on Wednesday. But the journey doesn’t end there. He hopes to run into Atlantic City, N.J., sometime next month.
Rosenstein said on his blog after completing his trek into the Windy City:
Well, there you have it. Route 66 – been there, done that. From Santa Monica with one foot in the ocean to Chicago, I’ve seen the sights and taken in the people and country along the most famous road in the nation. Sometimes it was at a snail’s pace and sometimes I was miserable, but overall, I’ve had a blast and I feel great. I still have a ways to go, but I’ll get there.
