Country-rock musician Neil Young made a documentary about a nine-day road trip mostly on Route 66 from California to Kansas in 1959 Lincoln Continental before the classic car was given a makeover, reports ContactMusic.com.
The film will be called “Linc Volt,” which is the name of an alternative-fuel vehicle project underwritten by Young and his friend Larry Johnson. He’s a fan of big, old cars, and Young wants to figure out a way that people can drive them in a greener manner.
Young now plans to race his environmentally-friendly classic motor, which is now powered by ethanol, across America in the X Prize Foundation’s cross-country drive.
The car also reportedly had an electric turbine and was partially powered by hydrogen.
No release date on the film is reported.
Here’s the Linc Volt Web site, which includes photos of that fabulous-looking car.
