The Journal Record in Oklahoma City reports that the local convention and visitors bureau had one particular enticement to landing the H.O.G. rally:
Carrier said Oklahoma City was attractive to HOG because of its central location in the country, growing tourism attractions easily accessible by traffic, and connection to the historic Route 66.
The Daily Oklahoman reported:
Lt. Gov. Jari Askins, who chairs the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Commission, said she expects riders to arrive early via Route 66, which she predicts will be a major beneficiary of the rally. Organizers said Oklahoma City already has made a good impression with HOG.
