Chamber President Eric Fisher said Cameron was selected for the honor because of his “commitment to bringing together the downtown merchants.”

Cameron was also active in creating the welcome center at Claire’s Corner at Illinois 53 and North Water Street, Fisher said: “He led the campaign to bring that together.”

In addition, Cameron represents the chamber on the Illinois Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor. […]

Camz in Wilmington offers an array of collectibles, unusual gifts, classic amusement devices and Route 66 memorabilia. Cameron is also the president of Route 66 Sodas, the “Refreshingly Root-Licsious” line that includes Route 66 Route Beer, Lucky 66 Orange Soda and Lucky 66 Lime Soda.

“He’s worked very hard, and he’s done it for the town and to bring people to Wilmington. He thinks very highly of Route 66,” said Laura Flynn, his assistant at Camz of Wilmington.
