A bicycle path along old Route 66 in Chenoa, Ill., is closer to reality after its city council approved a motor fuel tax resolution and an engineering agreement, reported the Pontiac Daily Leader.
The construction of a bike path, which has been planned for a number of years, will begin south of the TP&W tracks and go southward. The beginning point is expected to be the entrance into the Shell filling station off of Old Route 66.
The path, which will be the former southbound lanes of the historic roadway, is expected to be repaved to the city limit south of U.S. 24.
