Here’s something rare — measurable snow fell in the Route 66 desert town of Kingman, Ariz., on Wednesday.
According to the Kingman Daily Miner, about 3 inches of snow fell just south of the city before nightfall on Wednesday.
Areas such as Peach Springs, a Route 66 settlement north of the city, saw between 1.5 and nearly 3 inches of snow. The city of Kingman saw 1.27 inches of snow. The Miner called such weather conditions as “unusual,” which seems to be an understatement.
You can see the flying flakes for yourself:
The snow caused accidents on area roads, some resulting in injuries.
Don’t expect a white Christmas in Kingman, though. High temperatures in the next few days will be in the 40s.
