“Rhythms of the Road,” Episode One

As a follow-up to the story we had about Greene HD Productions and its efforts to get its musical series, “Rhythms of the Road,” on television, the company has posted the show’s first episode on Vimeo. Here it is:

  1. Let’s be honest, selling ultra high-priced Marathon RVs is the main reason this and the “Route 66 – The Marathon Tour” exist. At least the “66 Marathon” video set had some value, and didn’t push the RVs quite as much. This one? Not really. Some ultra-cheesy band (who are supposedly “somebodies”, according to them) playing “gigs” somewhere with a giant Marathon RV as their backdrop… well, this one is just sales junk. Tripe of this caliber doesn’t deserve a place on Route 66 News.

  2. Just got through watching the 1st episode of this series. I thought it was fantastic. As promised, it’s a musical event along the Mother Road. The band is made up of very talented musicians/singers with many years to their credit and the songs are certainly ones that any generation can relate too. The stops along Route 66 at various icons, with interviews and a tidbit of history on the place, is very informative. I love the question/answer segments. I think many types of transportation are presented in this film, from muscle cars, motorcycles to buses and so on. It’s a peppy, upbeat entertaining show and one I look forward to hearing more of. You’ve got to admit that Michael Wallis’ apprearance several places in the video is impressive and I don’t think he would appear in a show that was just “sales Junk” or “tripe of this caliber”. The show is what it advertises to be “an entertaining musical” along the Mother Road and I for one, love it!

  3. Hey MoRoader….

What’s the problem here. I actually kind of liked this show. Can you imagine watching the SUPERBOWL without a sponsor…com’on don’t be such a spoiled sport.

I hope the rest of these are posted over the coming weeks.

  4. A little definition here. Marathon Coach was considerate enough to help fund this series. They don’t expect a television viewer to drop over million dollars on one of their machines. But its simply keeping their name out there, along with exposure of their incredible product.

Television today cannot be produced without sponsorship, this was a unique way to travel the route and certainly attracts positive attention to the old road in a good way.

When I designed the show, a big part of its motivation was to give something back to the road and the people who live along it. The 7 concerts we performed were free to all who attended. The communities enjoyed the live event and when this airs nationally they will reap the benefits of further exposure in a very positive light.

We would have done more performances, but we did not have the funding. There were several other towns that invited us to stop and it was hard to say no. But I will once again give a HUGE thanks to all who helped us with this endeavor and look forward to the next time I can develop a concept that encourages tourism and benefits those that earn a living from the old road.

Besides, you never know when one of these millionaire bus owners might decide to take a trip down the route and find some pet project to restore or underwrite where we all can rejoice in something else being preserved.

As I have the opportunity I will post more of the finished episodes for all to enjoy. Once we have air dates, I will pass those along as well.

Unlike the NBC fiasco, everything we shot actually took place on the route. Every concert benefited some local business and gave a fun evening back to those hard working folks in those communities.
