A night at the opera

“Route 66,” sung by Brian De Lorenzo.

“Route 66” lends itself to a lot of styles, but I don’t think opera is one of them.

    1. Perhaps. I’m no expert on opera, but it’s apparent the singer has talent. It’s also apparent the performance is as stiff as the original 1930s Portland cement road surface in western Oklahoma.

  1. Seems like folks might be missing the point — humor. I mean, listen to the way he intentionally mispronounces some of the place names. If you googled the singer you’d probably discover that this isn’t his regular performing style.

  2. Sometimes, subtlety in humor is more appropriate, though I don’t think it’s all that subtle here. Do you have to be hit over the head with humor to find something funny? Listen to the mispronounced names. Do you really think he’s serious? The fact that this guy chose to combine operatic singing with a jazz/pop song is at least *slightly* humorous. If a person takes this video seriously, then I seriously think the person takes life a little too seriously (to use an adverb 3 times in one sentence).
    😉

    1. I don’t honestly know whether he’s serious. Perhaps he’s bad at satire. Perhaps he’s misinformed. Perhaps he’s simply a moron.
