Ink for a drink

One day about a year ago, a tattoo artist by the name of Dave Francis from Swindon, England, strolled into Historic Seligman Sundries in Seligman, Ariz.

He asked owner Frank Kocevar whether he could get a free malt if he put a new tattoo on his body, showing the Route 66 business.

On Sunday, Francis returned Seligman Sundries and said: “I’m here to collect on my malt.”

Kocevar says Francis did the tattoo himself.

Kocevar gave him the malt, and one to Francis’ wife, too.

One has to wonder whether Francis bartered his skin space for free drinks and meals at other places on the Mother Road.
