Seligman restaurant is setting for German reality series

Westside Lilo’s Cafe in Seligman, Ariz., soon will switch its owners and operators with that of a German family for a reality television series, reported the Kingman Daily Miner.

The swap is part of a German TV show “Switched” that seeks out people with German roots in other countries and asks them to swap lives with a family in Germany who operate a similar business for two weeks. […]

The Russells will meet the German family who will be taking their place a few days before they leave for Germany in order to show them the ropes. Then Lilo, Echeverria, another daughter and her son will fly to Germany to take over the German family’s restaurant near Stuttgart in southern Germany. TV crews will film both families as they work. […]

Echeverria and her mom don’t expect any to run into too many snags cooking traditional German foods. Lilo’s is as well known for its bratwurst, schnitzel, roladen, sauerbraten and goulash as its American strawberry tortes, famous carrot cake, and signature cinnamon rolls.

The show will be broadcast in Germany sometime in 2012.

The Route 66 restaurant’s matriarch was born in Germany, married a U.S. Army soldier, and came to America in 1962. Westside Lilo’s opened in 1996.

  1. I’m from Germany and I’m pretty sure that “Switch Reloaded” (which is the show you linked) is a comedy show in which they make fun of other German TV shows and of course their hosts, it’s some kind of parody so I guess the news is slightly wrong and Lilo won’t participate in that particular show, it’s got to be another show but keep on posting if your get further information, I’d really like to know about it!
    Greetings from Germany!

Fabi
