You can spot plenty of armadillos in Oklahoma, but nearly all of them are deceased along the sides of highways.
This videographer found a live armadillo digging for food along the historic Lucille’s property, on Route 66 near Hydro, Okla.
It’s hard to believe the guy got as close to this critter without it scampering away.
Ron, now that is truly awesome. It came right up to his boots.
What was it digging for, roots?
Armadillos eat grubs, which are right below the roots.
If you camp much in Oklahoma you see quite a few live armadillos. They will come right up into camp just in the video. Kind of noisy in the fall when they are poking through the leaves. A little scary for new campers at night wondering what is outside their tent. Cool to have one put on a show right on 66.
