The reality TV series “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” aired its final episode Friday night after nine seasons.
It ended it with a bang — building seven homes in seven days for families in the tornado-stricken city of Joplin, Mo.
If you missed the finale, like I did, you can watch the two-part episode online:
Wait’ll you see the eye-popping test on the tornado shelter.
The host, Ty Pennington, posted some parting words about Joplin and the finale.
I seldom watch TV. However, I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for “Extreme Makeover Home Edition.” It’s hard to be critical of a show where helping others are the main virtues. Pennington called it “the greatest job of my life,” and I don’t think it was because of the fame.
It was truly a very moving program. The local media was at several locations with large groups watching this final program of the series, and the comment heard most often was that there was not a dry eye to be found. The seven new home owners agreed that they are looking forward to seeing whole new neighborhoods re-build around them. There will still be a need for more volunteers this coming year in case anyone is interested.
