In recent weeks, we learned that one of the candidates for the Chevrolet Route 66 commercial for the Super Bowl was shot on Route 66.
Apparently at least two others were shot on Route 66. One of the spots prominently feature the historic U-Drop Inn gas station in Shamrock, Texas, and a couple of great-looking Corvettes. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the spots created by Michael Brown Productions, based out of the Dallas area.
Alas, both of Brown’s ads didn’t make the final round.
Holy Crap, this guy is a pro.
Michael Brown spent way more money making his commercials than we did & I bet even though he had fun he didn’t have as much fun as we did driving from The santa Monica Pier to Chicago in 8 days with Dale Butel & crew & delivering lemons to Fran at the Midpoint. If we would have had 60 seconds instead of 30, Ian’s commercial would be a ‘shoo-in.’ LOL
Hello, all. Actually, didn’t spend that much on the Corvette commercials. I already own the cars, the crew was already on my payroll, the cowboy is my son, the sheriff is a friend and I wrote the spots. So, it really was more fun than money.
I do appreciate the comments. Wasn’t aware of this site. Great! I love all things ‘Route 66’.
If you’re interested in Corvettes at all, visit the ‘stable’ where these two came from at http://www.hookedonvettes.com
Michael, we talked about the u drop inn commerical. ( my fathers station when we lived there) I hope to make it to your Texas location would love to see your Vett collection. By the way, your commerical is one of my favorite clips, I never get tired of watching it. It seems to put a real mystic about the Vetts and the station. Great work,
