Geoff Ladd, director of tourism in Logan County, Ill., seems to be a very busy — and successful — man at his job.
This story today from LincolnDailyNews.com details all the things he’s got going regarding Route 66, such as:
- A big Route 66 map of Illinois and other display panels at Lincoln’s Postville Park. The map details many of the attractions on the route. A mockup of the map can be seen here. The panels should be installed within two months.
- A new, more durable cover for the World’s Largest Covered Wagon, which is parked just off Route 66 near a motel in Lincoln. The wagon also has nighttime lighting.
- The annual Route 66 Garage Sale on May 11-12 will be consigned to the city of Lincoln only. The event had been held throughout Route 66 in Logan County, but it was too large for the tourism group to handle. A citywide garage sale will be more manageable, Ladd said.
- The Illinois Route 66 Motor Tour will again hold its annual dinner at Lincoln College.
Ladd, in case you’re wondering, led the charge to save The Mill from the wrecking ball, and moved the World’s Largest Covered Wagon to Lincoln.
