Highland Park sign-relighting project wins award

The recent project that relighted two historic rooftop neon signs in the Highland Park neighborhood in Los Angeles has won a Highland Park Heritage Trust Award, according to a news release.

The presentation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Franklin High School women’s gym, at 820 N. Ave. 54 (map here) in Los Angeles.

Please come for an exciting afternoon honoring the variety of businesses, residences, places, and people who contribute to our community’s rich history, not to mention a slide show all about the signage project. We’ll be showing posters about the project, which will go on display in the Highland Theatre and Las Cazuelas restaurant. Snacks and refreshments will be served. Free admission.

Here are videos from when the Manning’s Coffee Store and Highland Theatre signs were relighted:

Both signs are on the North Figueroa Street section of Route 66.
