The Blue Dome Diner, located on an older alignment of Route 66 in downtown Tulsa, will close at the end of the month because its lease was not renewed, reported Fox23 News in Tulsa.
Brian Prewitt is the owner of the restaurant, at 313 E. Second St. It formerly was known as the Route 66 Diner, about seven years ago.
“My concern right now is for my employees and for them to find jobs,” said Prewitt.
Prewitt had to break the news about the diner closing to all 15 staff members a few days ago. […]
Prewitt said his lease is up and the property owner never gave him the option to renew.
Prewitt said he was hoping to reopen in another location. “We’re not done,” he said.
UPDATE 7/16/2012: KOTV filed a report about the diner’s impending closure.
UPDATE 7/19/2012: According to a post on the Blue Dome Diner’s Facebook page, it is moving to 3535 E. Admiral Place, which is the older alignment of Route 66. It appears to be the old Family Diner building.
Oh, no! Well, I hope they find a great new spot. I wonder what in the world the building owners have in mind. It better be something pretty wonderful!
I truly hope this isn’t a R.I.P. for the home of one of the two best breakfasts in town!
