The Oklahoma Route 66 Museum in Clinton shows in a time-lapse video how volunteers gave a new paint job to a 1969 Volkswagen minibus during the museum’s renovations last year.
The minibus was christened with a brief road trip before going back into the museum:
Though she was on a flat bed trailer as it pulled back into town we thought it would only be right to give her one last trip down the trip down the mother road. So, we exited early, rolled down the windows, and listened to the nostalgic clunk ca clunk sound that route 66 makes beneath your tires as you drive.
Artist Daryl Jones came up with most of the paint job’s concept.
Had to watch twice because during the first viewing I was more fascinated by the dogs than the painting!
