If you’ve never been to the historic Cain’s Ballroom concert venue in Tulsa, here’s a virtual tour courtesy of Google Maps. You can even go onto the mezzanine:
The Google Maps images were taken this week by Mother Road Media LLC in Tulsa, which is a Google Business Tours photographer.
If you find other Route 66 examples of Google Business Tours, let me know about it.
Nice ballroom, but 422N Main St is not on any Route 66 alignment that I’ve ever heard of. Even the nearby I-244 never was Route 66 (when Route 66 shifted to the Interstates it shifted to I-44).
The 1926-1930s alignment went west on 2nd, south on Detroit, west on 7th, south on Cheyenne and west on 11th. and then onto the old bridge. Much of that is now impossible to drive in the right order due to one-way streets and/or missing pieces.
Cain’s is a very good side trip, and has always been on my site’s Attractions list. I’m not being a purist here.
How do I get to the mezzanine in the virtual tour?
Ahhh nevermind. got it.
