Check out the new blue-and-white sign that Ron Hart of the Route 66 Chamber of Commerce and Ed Klein of Route 66 World installed Monday onto the Boots Motel‘s sign pole.
It’s a reproduction of the “Radio in Every Room” sign that once graced the motel during the 1940s, shortly after it was built on Route 66 in Carthage, Mo. The Boots advertised “a radio in every room” from its beginnings.
With its new owners, the motel is going back to that 1940s ambiance — save for the invisible free Wi-Fi. The Boots Motel, after years of neglect, is being restored to its former pre-television glory. It contains five fully restored rooms for overnight travelers, and the remaining eight are being renovated.
Here are Klein and Hart getting the sign ready for the pole.
Hart says an “Air Conditioned” reproduction sign from that era soon will be added as well.

Glad to see this. Its a great place run by the nicest people. We stayed in July and enjoyed it very much.
Oh, that looks terrific. Can’t wait to see the next one…or stay there on our next trip.
