The public has chosen five winners for the inaugural Route 66 Reinterpreted art project, sponsored by the Atlanta Betterment Group of Atlanta, Ill.
A total of 32 works of art, where the canvas was in the shape of a Route 66 shield, were entered. Twelve finalists were selected, and the traveling public was invited to vote for five winners from May through August. These are the five top vote-getters, in no particular order:

The five winning shields, along with the other seven finalists, will be on display at the International Mother Road Festival in Springfield, Ill., on Sept. 28-29.
The shields will be displayed at Atlanta’s Route 66 Park throughout the summer of 2014 and subsequent summers.
The remaining seven finalist shields, along with the other shields entered in the Route 66 Reinterpreted Art Project, will be offered on eBay as a fundraiser for the Atlanta Betterment Fund. The auction will begin Oct. 1, with each shield offered at a price of $100.
