A fire early Monday gutted the Rinconsito Del Mar Mexican Restaurant on Route 66 in downtown Victorville, Calif., reported the Victorville Daily Press and other media outlets.
No one was in the building at the time, and no one was injured. However, firefighters who were inside the structure left just before a large air-conditioning unit on the roof crashed through the burning building.
The restaurant was described as a total loss, with damage reported at $400,000.
The Risconsito Del Mar has operated at 14678 Seventh St. (aka Route 66) in Victorville for more than 40 years, according to KABC-TV in Los Angeles.
